Up for grabs this week is a most beautiful skein!! I am keeping one for myself and plan to make a 2 color shawl for my Mom with it.

This particular skein that I'm giving away has some over-twisted strands in it. Not sure how long, but it doesn't look to bad at all! It is Luminosity (Superwash Merino, Bamboo and Nylon).

This week I've got another special skein for you! It is 1 skein of 60/40 Corriedale/Angora in Sport/DK, 200 yards. It's not labeled. The yarn is from Angora Gardens, they have wonderful yarns from their own sheep and rabbits!!  The yarn is heavenly to knit with; I designed the Castle Garden hat with it. They have been friends of our family for many, many years. Unfortunately their website is down right now.

I've got some...

...updates for you!

Some of you know that I contribute to the PhatFiber sampler box. Phat Fiber is a mystery box of fabulous samples for the yarn and fiber enthusiast. The boxes are filled with samples, artful yarns, roving, small batts, stitch markers, original patterns, valuable discount coupons and more. It is a great way to support family farms, indie dyers and others artisans. Each month there is a theme and the theme for August 2011 is Bollywood.

Luminosity...

...has hit the shop. It's one of my new yarns this spring. Merino Wool, BAMBOO and nylon. It's a lovely blend, shimmery and great for shawls, light sweaters and of course socks!

Well, I got one...

...goal met by the 18th of December. We've all been sick, first the kids one after another and then myself. I didn't get as much done as I hoped to. I think I put too much pressure on myself, not enough sleep and now I'm paying for it and not to mention I didn't get done what I wanted to anyway!

I finished Katya's blue hat and she loves it! I'm now making mittens to match, hopefully they will be done by Christmas. (I'm not even going to mention David's darn sweater ~ my worst nightmare lately!)

 

 When David saw that Katya had her new hat he went straight to the closet and wanted his, too! He seemed so pleased that Katya had one now, too!

Here is the link for the Cozy Cabled Hat. I did make a few changes like adding another cable instead of stockinette stitch and I think it made it so cute. I love cables! I'll add it to my Ravelry page with modifications sometime soon I hope.

I used All for Love of Yarn's Lublu worsted in True Blue, Katya's favorite color.

Giveaway! PITA...

...yep, I've got another one. It's bound to happen when I'm re-skeining a lot of yarn getting ready for this festival on Saturday. I can't wait, it's getting exciting!

This time it's a worsted weight, semi-solid navy blue coming in at 135 yards/75grams.

I would like you to tell me what you would like to see in a sock yarn club. I'm thinking about doing one totally custom for each customer, send me your photographs and we'll go from there kind of thing.

What about a worsted weight yarn club for those of you who don't like fingering weight much?

Talk about how much you would be willing to pay for your ideas, thoughts.

November's yarn...

...and fiber, too! As most of you know I contribute to the Phat Fiber box monthly. November's theme is Season of Light and I was in search of some good inspiration and then this great photo came in for the contest. It was perfect, so for my samples I did up the fiber in both Silk and BFL. Of course I did the yarn, too and since I choose this for my phat fiber samples the colorway will be fully revealed this month. The yarn is Nogi 90/10 Merino/Nylon and it's dyed with a minimal pooling technique.

The photos this month were so seasonally inspiring, I have a few more colorways coming, too!

There were a few Halloween themed photos this month and I wanted to include at least one of them and this was the favorite. It is very captivating and I think it will produce a menagerie of color on some yarn.

This pink door in the middle no where is captivating and it makes me wonder what awaits our imagination on the other side.  I think I may focus on the door if I dye this, pretty bright pink and white.

What a day...

...what a day it was today, a busy day indeed. It started out with dyeing 18 skeins of yarn, 7 different colorways. They are wet and messy and don't look so great yet.

Guess what? Three of these are lace weight! My first shipment of lace came yesterday and I immediately got some soaking; I couldn't wait to get some dyed. It's merino, cashmere and silk. So very, very nice!

I also did my weekly 3 loads of laundry (clothes), cleaned the house and made pork chops, potatoes and green beans for supper! And I'm still up, I have a lot of energy lately, just not tired yet, I would lay in bed and think of what I should do next.
I've been waiting to post this gorgeous little girl in her pretty little hat! It's been blocking the last few days. I finished it in  7 days, when I started I was hoping to have it done by hat wearing weather (a few months).  It was such a joy to knit, the pattern was awesome, best written pattern I've ever used.

I'm not sure about the blocking job, I don't like that you can see the rim where the plate was; I might do it again without the plate, but then again I'm not sure how that would work either. We'll see. Katya can't wait until it snows, I practically had to bribe her to put it on for me. She kept saying it's not snowing...it's not snowing...
My sister wants one now and so do I! It was wonderful to knit with my own handspun yarn, too.  A few short months ago I would never have believed it if someone told me I would be knitting a beautiful hat with yarn that I spun.  I'm really hooked!
I do need to get up early tomorrow and start re-skeining this hanging pile of yarn. I'm getting behind, so I must get to bed pretty soon! I have no more hooks left to hang the wet stuff when it is dry. I need to get it listed in my shop, too...

P.I.T.A.

Are you wondering what this stands for? Once in a while I have to deal with tangled skeins in the process of re-skeining my yarn and they are a royal Pain In The A**. So, I call them PITA's. They put me in a bad mood, so I've decided to give them away. It takes me more time to try and get them untangled than it is worth, someone else can have a go at it. It probably isn't really a bad tangle if you do it by hand, but since I do it with an electric skein winder, I really don't want to bother. Sometimes I will put them up in samples, but I don't need any now, nor do I want to deal with that anyhow.

So, up for grabs is a Lublu Sock 80/20 Superwash Merino/Nylon 400 yards/100 gram skein of beautiful poppy red. That's what I call the other one in the shop.
