Giveaway #9

Up for grabs this week is a most beautiful skein!! I am keeping one for myself and plan to make a 2 color shawl for my Mom with it.

This particular skein that I'm giving away has some over-twisted strands in it. Not sure how long, but it doesn't look to bad at all! It is Luminosity (Superwash Merino, Bamboo and Nylon).

FYI: Just so you know, the second person drawn for the winner on Giveaway #7 was the winner. I still have not heard from the winner of Giveaway #8. So, you still have a chance at #8 if they don't come forward by Thursday!

If you are chosen the winner I will post on Friday in a separate post, you are responsible for contacting me by the following Thursday or I will draw another winner. angela@allforloveofyarn.com

Giveaway #8

...Enduring Sock

It's a bad one this time! The steamer ran dry and part of one skein has been fried! It could be useful to someone, though. This colorway is a best seller, I call it Warm.

Leave a comment and the winner will be drawn on Friday! The winner is responsible for contacting me to receive the yarn.

1 skein is up for grabs!!

To give...

...or to keep. That I just cannot decide. When I started knitting I intended to give this to a friend, but I love it so much! It's handspun yarn and I didn't spin it. It was well worth every penny I paid. It was beautifully spun and I enjoyed knitting with it so much. It's one of a kind, so I want to keep it. But then I ask myself: Do I really want to knit the same sweater again, but with different yarn? Maybe, maybe not. That will all depend on the yarn, it could make or break the knitting experience. I know, I could find another sweater, nothing hit my fancy and I know this will fit next year.

The Pattern: It's a one size pattern with no gauge given...not my kind of pattern because I always change something. I figured out the gauge by figuring out how many stitches for the chest and went from there with my gauge for my handspun. It's was such a cute and easy pattern I went with it.

The Yarn: It was 150 yards per 4 ounces. Gotta love a bulky yarn once in a while!

It took me a week to make this sweater. That is all I wanted it to take, after all it was suppose to be a gift and I had 2 other projects on the needles.  The sweater will fit the child next fall/winter, so I have plenty of time for another. One more reason to keep it :)

Here is my little sweet modeling it for me. She just turned one!

Name this Yarn Contest!

I need a name for a new yarn that I'm going to be carrying.

It is 80/20 BFL (Bluefaced Leicester)/Nylon

I have a BFL/Nylon (Seella) yarn already, but this one is distinctively different and will be less expensive.

It is a 2 ply, with a nice twist and super soft.

4 ounces - 115 grams

400 yards

If I choose your name you will get a skein of the August colorway, which the yarn is featured in here:

I have a kind of theme with my names....
The more luxury yarns have luxurious names like, Opulence, Resplendence, Sumptuosity, etc. and the others I used a Russian theme, Lublu = love, Nogi = feet, Seella = strong. I'm willing to go off the themes, but if you think of one like this that would be great, too!

To enter leave a comment with your name suggestion and also your Ravelry ID, so that I can easily get a hold of you if I chose your name. I'll give you until the end of August!

Have fun!

New Year's Giveaway...

...this time it's Up North, one of the colorways I dyed for Jimmy Beans Wool for Coyote Trail, Romi's design.

It's got a few (3-4 that I noticed) blue splotches on it. Can't sell it, so it's up for grabs! The yarn is Opulence Fingering: 80/10/10 Superwash Merino/Cashmere/Nylon.

The winner will be chosen with random.org and I will announce it January 2nd.

The winner is responsible for contacting me; I will not be searching you out! My email address is:

The Secret...

is out!

Romi of Designs by Romi is designing a shawl with my yarn. Romi choose the first colorway combo pictured and I cannot wait to see the finished design. I have no idea, well, no more idea than any of you readers, what she is doing with it. I only know what she posts on her blog...it's kind of fun being in on the anticipation with you.

Here are the colorway combos that I paired up for the release of this latest pattern from Romi.  I really don't know how she does it; one great pattern after the next!

All of this yarn is Opulence Fingering, 80/10/10 Superwash Merino/Cashmere/Nylon. It has a great tight twist and super soft and squishy!

Coyote Trail & Dawn Pink
(Romi's brilliant color combo choice)

Smoldering Red & Halifax Shore
(Halifax Shore is an old favorite, but jazzed up a bit for this special pairing.)

Symphony & Tropica

Citrus Orange & Up North
(Up North was inspired by a recent trip up north (Duluth, Minnesota) in the peak of autumn.)

Greek Olives & Cabernet
(This pairing is a special one; my Mom choose these for a Kleio about 1.5 years ago. She is the only only one with the combo and gets so many compliments I had to go with it.)

The photo of my Mom's Kleio is not the greatest, but you get the idea. It was also dyed on a mostly alpaca yarn so it is lighter than the Opulence, which is mostly a superwash merino.

Where is it available you ask?? Jimmy Beans Wool has it all in collaboration with Designs by Romi.

I'm back...

...in the box; the PhatFiber Box that is! It's been a while since I've contributed and it's so nice and fun to be back. I've done fiber batts and yarn for November. The theme is Harvest Festival. I hosted a contest in my Ravelry Group to get some awesome inspirational images and they did not disappoint! This is what I choose:
(For some reason I cannot get the Amidst the Harvest Photo to upload, there is an error with it, so if you want to see it click here, it's in the winner's thread.

The yarn is Opulence Fingering: 80/10/10 Superwash Merino/Cashmere/Nylon in a minimal pooling colorway as always.

These are available for purchase at All For Love of Yarn (they are labeled November PhatFiber).

I have some fun things in store for the December Box, a spin a long and knit along; information will be coming soon!

Giveaway # 4 of 6!

Here's what I've got this week:

This week I've got a special skein for you! It is 1 skein of Lublu Sport 100% Superwash Merino. The special thing about this skein is that it is one of my first hand painted skeins (I don't hand paint anymore because I hate pooling.) I've got a better technique that I use that still gives me great color, but minimal pooling! Anyway this colorway is Autumn Smoke. I knit up a pair of socks with this yarn a while back and they turned out great, not too much pooling either. Oh! - the base for this yarn is Louet Gems.

Leave me a comment and I will draw a winner with Random.org next Monday/Tuesday.

The winner is responsible for contacting me to collect the yarn within 1 week or else the yarn goes to someone else!

Giveaway #1 of 6!

Since moving to a new city I'm finally making my way through my office. Yes, I have my very own space!! I do love this very much.

I have found some yarn that I cannot sell, so I'm giving it to some of you lucky readers.

The first skein up is a 1 of the green/blue Seella. It is a 75/25 Superwash BFL/Nylon. Most excellent for socks! When I was dyeing it the red dye broke and left it's mark, so you'll find little red spots throughout the yarn. Not terrible, but not worth of selling.

Leave me a comment and I will draw a winner with Random.org next Monday/Tuesday.

The winner is responsible for contacting me to collect the yarn within 1 week or else the yarn goes to someone else!

Thanks much!

Blinded by...

...Science is the PhatFiber theme for March. Here is what I submitted for my samples to the box. Thank you all for your contributions via my Ravelry Group contest! It would not have been so easy without your help, I'm not much of a science fan. Although I was inspired pretty easily by the eye images. As a former Surgical Technologist I was drawn to the eyes! Fascinating don’t you think? I primarily worked in Neuro Surgery, but occasionally got to work in the eye rooms as well and I enjoyed it.

I hope you enjoy the fibers that were inspired by all of these fantastic images! Some are one of kind, get them while they are available here at AFLoY Shop!

I took a break...

...from the fair isle sweater I'm making for my son and made him this much more needed hat. I participated in an Indie Dyers swap on Ravlery and got this Merino/Silk/Cashmere yarn in the mail, it was the perfect red to go with my sons coat, I did think twice about the yarn fiber and if a little boy was worthy of such luxury...but of course, I love knitting with it and it so perfectly matches his coat and how often do you really need to wash a hat anyway? I wash almost everything I knit by hand to extend its life, after all I spend countless hours making these things and want them to last as long as possible, perhaps so my grandchildren can wear them some day.

It was a pleasure to knit with this lovely yarn and color, the hat will fit him for many years, and I'm glad because I have a list of other things I want to make, with a few things for me included and never enough time as the list is always growing!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We had a fun day with all of my family.

Remember the sale going on in my shop through Monday. You'll get 10% off with code: BLACKFRIDAY10 and it includes all of my yarn clubs, including the tea and yarn, worsted weight, no-pooling variegated and nearly solid clubs, which are already discounted! (Enter the code at checkout.) Enjoy! ~ Angela
