Tea and Yarn...

...January only is now listed in the shop and there is just 1 available. It usually sells quickly, so snag it now if you want it!

In case you are wondering what the benefit might be if you purchase the 3 month club I'll fill you in. The price for the 3 month club is reduced and I'll be putting little extras in the packages, most of the time knitting related, sometimes not, it will be a nice surprise. You will also get to see new yarns first hand and sometimes never before seen in my shop at a reduced priced! Rest assured they are very good quality yarns and knitter tested!

I have the Summer Tea and Yarn Club listed as well in my shop, and if you don't think tea is so good for summer, try it on ice. I think the Teavana teas are so good on ice, especially on a hot summer day. Did you know that mixing the teas for a fun new flavor is exciting, too. I ounce bought a tea that I didn't care for very much on it's own, but I mixed it with another and it was amazingly good! So, no wasted money there, just by mixing them up a bit you'll be creating new flavors of your own.

I'm off to brew myself a cup of Swiss Vervaine, it's cold this morning!

Food is...

...so much better when you don't have to cook it yourself, don't you agree? My husband had a break over Christmas and he was a sweetheart and gave me a break in the kitchen! He made a few seafood dishes, a few Russian favorites and of course dessert and tea!

Parsley Shrimp Linguine

Fried Rice and Scallops

Borscht

Pelmini

Walnut Brownies and Swiss Vervaine Herbal Tea
I've always thought tea tastes better when it's sipped from a pretty cup. I'll confess the brownies are from a box, Ghiradelli Double Chocolate, I can't make them from scratch better. I do put my own ganache on them, though and that makes them even better!

Check this...

...out! My first real handspun on a wheel, something that can actually be called a skein of yarn that is. I'm borrowing a friend of mine's wheel. Thank you to you!! Anyway, I spun this a while ago when my kids were sleeping, both at the same time, yippee. It took me about 2 hours, I couldn't believe it! I started out with 4 ounces of carded roving, a domestic wool blend of some kind, I got it from someone with no label and I ended up with 3.6 ounces of singles, thick and thin. I was playing around with the tension and things on the wheel trying to get to know it. Some of it has too much twist and some not enough. Although I think it is still usable to knit with for sure, I'm just not sure what I'll make with it yet. I have too many other projects on the needles to get to this anytime soon.  I hate spinning with boring fiber so this made it much more fun as a learning experience.

My January.....

...Phat Fiber samples are going in the mail. These were so much fun to design and card! This month's theme is Chinese New Year and when I think of China in color I think of red and pink. I've designed 4 different fiber batts all with the red and pink theme, but each one has different accent colors. I think it would be really fun to get one of each and and mix them up however you chose when spinning or plying. There can be so many variations with these batts and for this reason I have listed them all in the shop as 1 ounce listings. I named them after famous cities in China.

FYI:

I will be putting the shop on vacation on WEDNESDAY, January 5th 2011. I’m taking all of my stock to a yarn shop so they can choose what they want to purchase. If you have your eyes on something get it now; it might not be listed when I come back! ~ Angela
