Giveaway #1 of 6!
Since moving to a new city I'm finally making my way through my office. Yes, I have my very own space!! I do love this very much.
I have found some yarn that I cannot sell, so I'm giving it to some of you lucky readers.
The first skein up is a 1 of the green/blue Seella. It is a 75/25 Superwash BFL/Nylon. Most excellent for socks! When I was dyeing it the red dye broke and left it's mark, so you'll find little red spots throughout the yarn. Not terrible, but not worth of selling.

Vervaine...
...it's finally done! Vervaine, my most popular colorway is not my favorite, in fact I don't really like it all. Why I spun it I don't know...well maybe for a show sample? Not sure yet, I really don't want to knit with it! I started spinning it months ago and it went on and on, never ending. I'm so happy it's done, I almost had to force myself to finish it.
This is the only colorway that I hand-paint and I do it with short repeats, so I wanted to spin this pretty fine to get some long color for a shawl perhaps or striped socks would be cool.
The fiber is 80/20 Merino/Silk and pretty easy to spin fine.
I ended up with 670 yards, 3.7 ounces! My very best spin!!

Wow...
...I've been a terrible blogger lately! We have moved and all is good! I don't have my studio up and running yet. I'm really enjoying the summer off to tell you the truth. I am looking forward to getting back to it though. I've got a few things listed on Etsy, with more coming slowly.

We are going...
...strong packing and cleaning, pacing ourselves nicely, for our children mostly, they still need our attention while we move. Actually it's a nice break for us to get out of the mess of boxes and things scattered everywhere. We have been visiting the many parks in Waseca one last time and having some fun at the same time! Tonight we are going to our most favorite Pippa Place, as my son calls it. It's Yellow Mushroom Pizza, if you every get to Waseca, MN eat there, it's great! On Thursday's starting at 4pm they have buy 1 and get 1 free. We couldn't afford to eat out otherwise. My sister is on her way and we are starving after cleaning and packing the kitchen inside out and top to bottom!
We are saving the kids' toys for last, they need something to do right!?
I finished a sweater that I designed, pattern coming this summer hopefully after it's written up and tested. I plan to add more cable detail to the sleeve, it was an after-though as I was knitting the body of the sweater.
I started this sweater on April 29th and finished on May 25th! Fingering weight, the only reason I got it done in record time is because of our countless trip to Anoka looking for a new place to live. It's a 3 hour round trip from Waseca.

We are...
...moving! Our new home will be just north of Anoka, MN. My husband graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering on May 5th. Got a job offer on May 4th, and we just found a home on 5.5 acres. We are thrilled to be moving out of this 650 square foot 2 bedroom apartment!! Don't ask me how I run a business out of here; I'm not sure how myself :)
Here's a little background for those of you who do not know, I've been thinking about writing about how my husband and met, but other things seem to get in the way all the time. This will be the quick version!
I met my husband in Russia while on mission trips and long story short he came to the USA to marry me, we got married, he started school, we had 2 kids, now 3 and almost 5. It's a romantic love story I'd like to write about someday...
So here we are on the journey, school done, got a good job and a HOUSE to live in with 5.5. acres!! I grew up in the country so this apartment living is very hard for me. The best part is the yard for the kids to play in, sand-pile, garden all the things we have been waiting for. It's hard to believe it's really time. I'm so proud of my husband, he worked a part to full time job and went to school, still debt free and graduated with a 4.0 so that I could stay at home with our children.
There are a few reasons why I started my business, I wanted a way to contribute to our family without going to work outside the home it has really helped us while he was in school, so thank you to all of you who have supported my business!
Oh!! Get this! Our new address is xxxxx Alpaca St! We knew it was meant to be when we found that out!
We move on June 2nd, so things in the shop won't be back to normal for a time yet. There is a new website in the works, too!

Great fun at...
...Yarnover!! It was an energizing day for me and has me refreshed to hit the dye pots again. My customers and fellow spinners and knitters know how to do this well :)
I started the weekend Friday afternoon at the hotel with my husband and kids. We were greeted at the hotel with warm chocolate chips cookies and knitters in the lobby. It's so fun to see knitters in public, it doesn't happen much for me.
We went for a swim, the kids love swimming and can't wait until Grandma & Grandpa open up the pool for the summer! I grew up with pool, so we love it that we still have one to go home to, especially since we don't have one ourselves (yet!).
My husband and I were up at 5 the next morning to get ready for Yarnover. Hotel sleep is never that great and I was probably too excited about the next day to sleep well anyway, it wasn't too hard to get up.
My dear husband put together all of the grid walls, really a mans job, even though I could do it, I really didn't want to. He was great help all around, thinking of things I wouldn't have.
I made connections with new yarn shops and I'm excited for the prospects with them. Watch out Twin Cities, it might be coming to a shop near you!
I met the wonderful and talented designers, Sivia Harding, Anne Hanson and Rosemary (Romi) Hill! Romi and I have some things cooking up for you! We are both very excited about it! She made me blush with her compliments.
I was able to see some of my drop spindle students and was tied up with someone else and unable to see their spinning progress, I missed seeing it and talking with you and sharing your excitement. Come to Shepherd's Harvest, I want to see you and what you've been up to!
I love hearing my customers feedback and you have given me a renewed energy for dying, I sometimes get in a rut and you really help that! Thank you. It was so much to see old faces again and reconnect! I look forward to seeing you again at Shepherd's Harvest!

As promised...
...but sorry it's so late! I've been very busy getting ready for Yarnover this weekend and Shepherd's Harvest in 2 weeks!
I intended to make this sweater for myself, but after blocking it grew severely!! About 2 sizes at least. I'm very happy that it fits my Mom wonderfully! At least someone can wear it well!
Lesson Learned: WASH YOUR SWATCH!!! As if I didn't know this - I know I should have, why didn't I? Too anxious to cast on and get knitting I guess, I over looked it, but will NEVER to do it again!! So, get gauge, measure your swatch, wash and block and measure again. Then determine what size you need to make.
I used both my handspun and hand dyed.
I spun up 5 skeins of this yarn, fingering weight around 400 yards each!
I had planned to use it for a different sweater, but didn't like a thing about it, gauge was way too loose and I didn't really like the color! Believe it or not, after all that spinning I don't even like the yarn it produced!
I had to use it, so I began pairing it up and found this, Resplendence 50/50 merino/silk to be a great combination. I love the results.

Hot off the needles...
...are 2 sweaters in 1 month! I started my daughters last May and it got pushed aside for other projects that needed to get done. It turned out fantastic and we all love it! Katya is very proud to wear it!
The entire sweater is made with my own handspun yarn (spun on a wheel) and I'm very pleased with how it all turned out!

Stay tuned for the next sweater...it's a drama in the knitting world for sure, at least it was for me, from the thought of it to the trying on!
