I'll be at...

...Defeat of Jesse James Days in Northfield, MN on Friday and Saturday, September 9th and 10! If you are near come and visit!

It's not your typical fibery show, but the Arts and Craft Fair has been going strong for over 20 years and is a great show!

I'll be inside the Arena, rain or shine.

It's done, it's done...

...I'm not sure that I posted the beginning of this sweater, though! I started it in May and now it's complete as of last Friday! I absolutely love it and so does Katya, although it's too big for her. I made it big just in case I didn't get it done, you never know. I have a feeling I'll be busy with something when she needs it, so I'm very happy!

I made it with AFLoY yarn, Serendipity,  a lovely baby alpaca, wool and silk singles DK weight yarn. The colorway is Enchanted.

Oh, and it's my pattern, too! I'll be able to offer it free with the purchase of the yarn and for single purchase if you like. It's in the process of being finalized, I needed to get some help with making it into more sizes.

I'm introducing a new...

...and very lovely yarn! It's name is ELOQUENCE and it really fits! It will debut this weekend at one of my favorite yarn shops: The Yarnery, in St. Paul, Minnesota. I'll be there from 1 -5 in the afternoon on Saturday, August 20th.

Anyway, the new yarn is 70% Superwash BFL (Bluefaced Leicester) 20% Silk and 10% Cashmere. Here is just a taste, there are many more, but I can't give them all away yet!

I could be visiting...

…your neck of the woods! That’s right, I will be at The Yarnery in St. Paul, Minnesota this Saturday from 1-5.

This was taken from The Yarnery’s email blast:

All For Love Of Yarn Is In The House
Her yarn was a sell-out at this spring’s shop hop, and her cashmere blend, Sumptuosity, is the most-fondled yarn in the shop. On Saturday, August 20, 1-5pm, Angela of All for Love of Yarn will be at The Yarnery! She’ll have some yarns with her that we know and love but also promises some surprises: new fibers and colorways we haven’t seen yet. And for you spinning enthusiasts, Angela will include some dyed fiber just for you! We’ll have a great new sampling of spindles and books to get you started. Knitters, crocheters, weavers, and spinners, this is an afternoon of local, hand-dyed fiber, with the friendly expertise of Angela, just for you!

I hope to see you fellow Minnesotan’s there or from anywhere else for that matter! Here is a sneak peak at a few of the yarns I'm bringing and my daughter who would love to play in the huge pile if I let her!

Tea and...

Yarn/Fiber for August is up in the shop! The most luxurious yarn and fiber for this summer's club! I've got 3 yarn and 2 fiber available in the shop right now.

I've been knitting with Sumptuosity lately, making a hat, scarf and mittens for my son. I dyed this yarn about 2 years ago and it matched his coat that my sister got him for Christmas perfectly and I've been saving it for him. I know, such luxury for a little boy of only 2 years old! Baby Alpaca, Silk and Cashmere, but really I'm the one knitting it, the luxury is all mine and I've loved every minute of knitting with it, expect I hate knitting scarves, I'm almost done with it and then on to the mittens. The hat is done and I will post photos when the set is complete. Since this yarn is fingering weight and I wanted to get it done quickly I'm using 3 strands held together on a size 6 needle. It's working out very nicely.

It's been a really good...

...week full of fibery fun! I got a call from a friend a week ago today, telling me I could borrow a Kromski Sonata spinning wheel (she was borrowing it herself)! I said yes, of course and got the kids in the car and went to pick it up half an hour away. I was home in an hour spinning away while the kids napped, perfect timing...

I was carding up some pretty fibers when she called and was so excited to be able to spin it on the Sonata!
These are fibers from varies fiber artists and myself. Katya has a navy blue wool dress coat and I wanted to make her a hat and mittens to go with it. Here she is helping me drum card...
The fibers are BFL, Silk, Merino, Tencel, Alpaca, Angelina. A gloriously soft mix!
I got 11 ounces total!
I was able to pack these bobbins with almost 6 ounces of fiber!
I had to return the wheel to it's owner, at least for now until it sells Friday, so I got up early and plied the singles making 2 skeins of 250 yards DK weight/2 Ply. I still have a medium ball of singles left to ply, I ran out of time.
I'm not sure this yarn is going to be a hat and mittens...perhaps a little sweater instead!
As far as the Kromski Sonata spinning wheel is concerned, I like it a heck of a lot more than the Ashford Kiwi I'm currently spinning on most of the time. It's like cars kind of: my first car was a Geo Metro, (Kiwi)
next was a Dodge Intrepid, Hyundai Sonata, and now a Chrysler Town and Country (Louet Julia, Kromski Sonata). Okay, get the picture, a Porsche is comparable to a Majacraft Rose or Schacht Matchless, the latter I was able to try out yesterday when I returned the Sonata and it was dreamy!

I was able to spin the finest yarn to date with ease. Now I won't likely have a Porsche someday, but I do hope to have a Schacht Matchless or Majacraft Rose Spinning wheel! I have not spun on a Rose yet, but hope to before I make a decision someday...
